Alphabetical Order supports underprivileged children at École du Saint Enfant Jésus – Besançon in Baabdath , through grants and tuition fee subsidies. Our work with the school’s students and their families facing hardship began with the start of the 2021-2022 academic year. We are conscious of the critical importance of the task that lies ahead as we work to secure grant funding for the children. In the current disastrous economic circumstances, many families of students at the school are in need of support. Our volunteers are working around the clock to raise funds to safeguard the future of these children.

In Lebanon, hundreds of thousands of schoolchildren may be forced to drop out of school as poverty struck families can no longer afford the cost of education following the economic collapse of the country. This is an unprecedented catastrophe in a country that until recently prided itself on the quality of its education.

We strongly believe that education is the only effective way out of poverty. It is integral as it transforms the fabric of society, promotes free will and independent thinking and brings about improved social and economic wellbeing.

About the school

Our school, Saint Enfant Jésus – Besançon in Baabdath, is a Catholic, French-speaking school, that belongs to the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Jeanne-Antide Thouret (Besançon). It is an NGO that counts around 700 students, guided by around 70 teachers and administrative staff. The school offers a learning environment in a positive climate. It aims at spreading knowledge, developing know-how and encouraging life skills under the guidance of charity and the charisma of its founder.
The rich and fruitful history of our school is deeply rooted in the history of Baabdath. Since 1906, we have welcomed students, « treasures » as St Jeanne Antide called them, who fill our classes from kindergarten to senior year. Boys and girls are taught human, spiritual, social and religious values as they follow the Lebanese programme, benefit from a trilingual education, and learn new technologies, sports as well as arts.
At Saint Enfant Jésus – Besançon,  Baabdath, we remain vigilant in maintaining an evangelical spirit, characterised by the joy of learning, discovering, and developing creativity and activities, so each student can best grow and further his potential and his skills. Above all, our students belong to one big family that helps them flourish, and most of all, live.

Our teams work to identify and manage education based projects serving lower-income families across the country. We work with these families, students, schools and other stakeholders to advance education in Lebanon.
