Alphabetical Order supports underprivileged children at Notre Dame de Lourdes school in Antelias, through grants and tuition fee subsidies. Our work with the school’s students and their families facing hardship began with the start of the 2021-2022 academic year. We are conscious of the critical importance of the task that lies ahead as we work to secure grant funding for the children. In the current disastrous economic circumstances, many families of students at the school are in need of support. Our volunteers are working around the clock to raise funds to safeguard the future of these children.

In Lebanon, hundreds of thousands of schoolchildren may be forced to drop out of school as poverty struck families can no longer afford the cost of education following the economic collapse of the country. This is an unprecedented catastrophe in a country that until recently prided itself on the quality of its education.

We strongly believe that education is the only effective way out of poverty. It is integral as it transforms the fabric of society, promotes free will and independent thinking and brings about improved social and economic wellbeing.

About the school

Notre Dame de Lourdes is part of the congregation of the Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family founded by Patriarch Elias Al Hoayek in 1895. The school’s current premises, located in Antelias, 5 km north of Beirut, were built in 1950.
Our school welcomes around 480 students aged 3 up to 16 years, without distinction between different races, social, academic and religious statuses.
We also introduced after-school educational classes in order to help parents in need of support, enabling them to work after school hours by catering for their children’s educational needs while offering them a place to stay until their parents return from work.
Additionally, and despite the dire economic situation in our country, we strive to give support to low-income families by maintaining school fees at very reasonable levels ranging between 4,200,000 LBP and 4,600,000 LBP which represents approximately 200$.
This, unfortunately, does not help cover the school’s costs nor does it allow for the implementation of our mission and vision, which is to help families in need of financial and educational support. The aim of Notre Dame de Lourdes has always been to keep elevating the educational level of all Lebanese families in order to have a reformed and better Lebanon, keeping children off the streets and offering them a chance to build a future and a solid career.
